The Osseointegration Foundation honored Steven Eckert, DDS, with its Nobel Biocare Brånemark Osseointegration Award.
Here's what you should know.
1. The organization awards the award to an individual who exhibits all three characteristics of OF's mission: research, education and charitable causes.
2. Dr. Eckert is a past Academy of Osseointegration president. He was the second editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, and still holds this position.
3. Dr. Eckert joined AO in 1991. He is a professor emeritus at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic and an adjunct professor at Minneapolis-based University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.
4. Dr. Eckert is the director and research director at Minneapolis-based ClearChoice Dental Implant Center.
