Many patients — 43.3 percent — select their dentist based on online reviews, according to a survey by digital marketing agency IronMonk.

The survey asked 1,500 Americans how they choose a dentist or a dental clinic when doing a Google search.

Along with looking at online reviews, 19.4 percent of respondents said they chose the dentist that was closest to them. Another 18.4 percent said they selected the top ranked dentist within the search result.

Some patients (14.4 percent) chose the cheapest dentist. And 4.5 percent of respondents chose the dentist with the best-looking website.
