Delta encourages Tennessee patient to push for refund after "unacceptable" dental work

A former patient is demanding a refund from Franklin, Tenn.-based Taylor Made Smiles after an independent dentist hired by Delta Dental deemed the dental work "unacceptable," local NBC affiliate WSMV reports.

Deena Robinson had four crowns replaced and two partial dentures placed at Taylor Made Smiles in 2018. After a few months, Ms. Robinson said the top partial no longer fit properly.

The work cost more than $8,000, Ms. Robinson told WSMV. When she asked an unnamed dentist at the practice to replace the partial with one that fit, the dentist allegedly told Ms. Robinson that she'd have to pay for a new one.

Ms. Robinson reached out to her insurance company, Delta Dental, which had an independent dentist examine the work and, according to documents cited by WSMV, found the dental work "unacceptable" and "unsatisfactory." Delta suggested Ms. Robinson request a refund, but could not force the practice to pay her back.

Taylor Made Smiles said the work was done properly and refused to refund any money, claiming that the patient's own actions led to the problems, according to WSMV.
