Washington dentist fears closing practice due to mask shortage

A Spokane, Wash.-based dentist is concerned he might have to temporarily close his practice due to shortages in medical masks, according to local CBS affiliate KREM.

Michael Davis, DDS, who works at Arbour Family Dentistry in Spokane, said the practice only has 200 masks on hand, with the staff using about 50 a day. When staff placed their usual order of 50 boxes, their supplier was only able to send them three.

Consumers have been purchasing medical masks in bulk over concerns of the spread of the coronavirus. However, it has led to a lack of supplies for healthcare providers.

"We can't operate at all if we don't have masks," Dr. Davis told KREM.
