Dentists aren't regularly checked for COVID-19, North Carolina dentist says

Dentists nationwide are taking precautions to make sure their practices are operating safely during the pandemic, but they are not being consistently tested for COVID-19, according to Asheville, N.C., ABC affiliate WLOS.

North Carolina dentists are reshaping the way their practices operate, launching new requirements such as temperature checks, masks and face shields. Faced with different sets of guidelines from dental and public health organizations, dentists have not yet received instruction on how to go about testing themselves and their staff for COVID-19.

"Currently, dentists are not required or mandated to be tested for COVID-19," Callan White, DDS, told WLOS. "Per CDC and OSHA guidelines, that has not been passed or set forth at this time."
