CDC includes dentists, dental staff in 1st phase of COVID-19 vaccinations

The CDC has included dental professionals in its recommendation regarding which healthcare personnel should be prioritized for the first doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

The Dec. 28 update is based on a report from the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, an independent panel of medical and public health experts. Federal, state and local jurisdictions should use the guidance for COVID-19 vaccination planning and implementation, according to the committee.

The CDC recommends dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants be among those offered the first doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
