Arizona police arrest dentist who used fraudulent documents to obtain general anesthesia permit

The Arizona Attorney General's Office arrested Pankaj Goyal, DDS, after learning the dentist used false documents and forged signatures to earn a general anesthesia permit, according to ABC 15.

Here's what you need to know:

1. The Arizona Dental Board granted Dr. Goyal a 1301 General Anesthesia Permit, the highest level of anesthesia certificiation in the state.

2. Dr. Goyal allegedly used fake degrees, forged signatures and false documents to receive the permit that allowed him to administer general anesthesia and deep sedation.

3. The dentist's attorney Susan McLellan responded to the allegations in a statement, saying concerns over Dr. Goyal's credentials are "meritless."

4. The Arizona Dental Board is under scrutiny. Investigators allege the dental board was aware of the dentist's false and forged documents as early as 2014.

5. Dr. Goyal faces two felony charges: fraudulent schemes and artifices and forged written instruments.
