Former bookkeeper allegedly embezzles $120K from 2 South Dakota dental practices

Cheryl Callies, the former bookkeeper at two Sioux Fall, S.D.-based practices, admitted to adjusting payment records, according to Kelo Land.

Investigators allege Ms. Callies embezzled more than $121,750 since 2011. Ms. Callies worked at Sioux Falls-based Montoya Dental Office before it became 10th Street Dental. She continued to work at 10th Street Dental, where she is accused of embezzling more than $8,400.

Ms. Callies allegedly told investigators about accepting cash payments and then changing the entry in the software system. After the changes were made, Ms. Callies would remove money for the daily deposits and adjust the financial reports.

She faces up to 15 years in prison.
