Wilmington (N.C.) Oral Surgery surgeon Michael Hasson, DDS, is accused of sexually assaulting four female patients who were under anesthesia, according to WECT, an NBC affiliate.
The North Carolina Dental Board of Examiners is stepping in to investigate the charges. Dr. Hasson has been practicing for 22 years, and his license remains in good standing.
The board of examiners has two investigators responsible for complaints and charges against dentists and oral surgeons. It is unclear when the investigation will begin.
Charges against Dr. Hasson allege he sexually abused four women between October 2017 and July 2018 who were "physically helpless" at the time of the assaults. Patients ranged from 17 years old to 22 years old.
Wilmington Oral Surgery is temporarily closed, according to a voicemail recording from the office. Dr. Hasson was released on bond. He is able to practice; however, he needs to be monitored when treating patients.
