Maryland dental clinics will be able to apply for grants later this year after Gov. Larry Hogan signed a bill on May 13 aimed to expand patients' access to care, according to the Herald-Mail Media.

The bill permitted the Maryland Board of Public Works to gift at least $1 million per year in capital grants to community dental clinics. The dental clinics must be nonprofit organizations that provides services at reduced rates.

Dental clinics eligible for the grants must be wholly owned and operated under authority of a county, municipal corporation or nonprofit organization, the report notes.
