Florida dental group alerts 1,200 patients of malware infection

Rosenbaum Dental Group is notifying 1,200 patients of malware that may have compromised patient information, according to the HIPAA Journal.

The Pembroke Pines, Fla.-based dental group discovered on June 3, that an unauthorized third party gained access to protect health information through malware.

Patients' names, addresses, phone numbers and health insurance information may have been affected. Rosenbaum Dental Group was unable to determine if the malware attack compromised patient data.

Rosenbaum Dental Group is offering affected patients one year of credit monitoring and reporting services.
