Here's the latest roundup of dentists making headlines.

1. Brenon Farmer, DDS, abruptly closed his practice leaving many patients with canceled appointments and unanswered questions.

2. Einar Lignell, DDS, was sentenced Aug. 19 to 60 days in jail after investigators discovered he had fraudulently received $62,500 in a business scheme.

3. Pittsburgh-based North American Dental Group co-founders Ken Cooper and Andrew Matta, DDS, entered an acquisition agreement with private investment firm Jacobs Holding.

4. Milagros Macaraig, DDS, allegedly used the personal information of her patients to take out life insurance policies on them.

5. Scott David Cohen, DDS, owner of Trumbull (Conn.) Smiles Family Dental, was involved in two separate accidents on the same road Aug. 13.
