Viewpoint: Dentists are solution to healthcare crisis

Americans could live longer and the healthcare system would save money if people went to the dentist more often, Gary Kadi, CEO of New York City-based NextLevel Practice, told Thrive Global.

Mr. Kadi pointed out that physicians are subject to rising insurance costs, sinking Medicare reimbursements, and minimal time allotted for any given patient. Dentists have much more time to understand their patients' overall health, as well as a business model that isn't as dependent on insurance reimbursements, Mr. Kadi told Thrive Global.

Many serious diseases that affect the entire body, such as cancer, start in the mouth, Thrive Global reported. "A dollar spent on dentistry saves the entire healthcare system $32," Mr. Kadi said to Thrive Global.
