HealthPartners to slash 75 jobs

Bloomington, Minn.-based HealthPartners plans to cut around 75 jobs due to changes in the Medicare market, according to The Star Tribune.

HealthPartners operates 24 dental clinics, 22 urgent care centers and 55 primary care clinics. Additionally, the nonprofit offers dental insurance to patients and oversees two regional hospitals.

The 75 jobs that will be eliminated will be within the organization's information services and technology department. Earlier this month, HealthPartners slashed nearly 300 jobs while closing retail pharmacies.

HealthPartners' revenue and operating income were down in the first nine months of the year. The drop in revenue is due to Medicare changes. The state expanded Medicare coverage allowing more than 300,000 seniors to enroll in a new health plans.

"The market dynamics of the Medicare cost transition are important here, affecting insurance plan and care system revenue," HealthPartners said in a statement to The Star Tribune. "It's not just us, it's the entire market."
