West Virginia city debates new 7-room dental practice

Residents of Glen Dale, W.Va., are debating whether to allow Heather Taylor, DDS, to remodel a vacant building for use as a dental office, according to local NBC and FOX affiliate WTOV.

Dr. Taylor, who owns Taylor Family Dentistry, purchased the vacant building last year. She plans to transform the building into a seven-exam room dental office and add a parking lot. However, community members have not been shy about their disapproval of the new dental practice.

“For her to want to put this office in a completely residential area, which has been a residential area since Glen Dale was founded a hundred years ago, it’s just very disruptive and it’s going to destroy our neighborhood,” said resident David Thomas to WTOV.

Community members who oppose the dental office are concerned about runoff water from the parking lot as well as traffic in the neighborhood. Dr. Taylor is remaining positive about the outcome.

City officials declined WTOV's request for comment.
