New York dentist exposed himself to teen interns, lawsuit claims

A new lawsuit claims a New York City-based dentist "had a habit of exposing himself to the young female interns in his dental office," over a decade ago, according to SI Live.

Alan Kratenstein, DDS, "sexually and emotionally abus[ed]" the plaintiff, whose name is not listed, between September 2008 and May 2009, according to the complaint. The plaintiff interned at Dr. Kratenstein's dental office when she was 17.

"This is a repeat offender who has done it before and will do it again unless he's stopped," said John Bonina, the plaintiff's attorney. "He made it obvious that he was masturbating in the office while [the plaintiff] was working there."

After masturbating, the dentist would often treat patients without gloves or washing his hands, the suit alleges.

The suit was filed under the state's Child Victims Act, which created a window from Aug. 14, 2019 to Aug. 14, 2020 when plaintiffs can sue alleged abusers regardless of when the abuse happened.

SI Live was unable to immediately reach Dr. Kratenstein's attorney for comment.
