Dental care picks up; still at 27% of pre-pandemic volume

As dental treatment volume increased for the week ending May 10, overall national treatment volume is still at 27 percent of the pre-COVID-19 weekly average, according to a May 19 news release from P&R Dental Strategies and DentalMarketIQ.

Most treatments were urgent or emergency care. For the week ending May 10, treatment that was definitely or highly likely to be urgent reached almost 80 percent of pre-pandemic average volume. Nonessential treatments and treatments classified as "unlikely urgent" saw the first material volume increases, reaching more than 20 percent of previous levels.
