3 Virginia dentists pay $30K in opioid prescription settlement

Three Virginia Beach, Va.-based dentists agreed to pay $30,000 to settle allegations that they violated the Controlled Substances Act on June 17, according to local ABC affiliate WVEC.

The settlement addresses allegations that the dentists wrote unnecessary Schedule II and Schedule IV prescriptions.

Gary Hartman, DDS, Arnold Berger, DMD, and Paul Berger, DMD, are named by federal law enforcement officials. Dr. Hartman and Dr. Arnold Berger have both previously pleaded guilty to Controlled Substance Act violations and surrendered their Drug Enforcement Administration registrations.
