Georgia dentist performs free surgery on activist whose teeth were knocked out by police

Georgia dentist Heavenly Kimes, DDS, recently performed free oral surgery for Miracle Boyd, an 18-year-old activist whose front teeth fell out after she was struck in the face by a Chicago police officer during a protest, according to Atlanta Fox affiliate WAGA-TV.

The police officer hit Ms. Boyd while she was attending a July 17 protest calling for the removal of a Chicago statue depicting Christopher Columbus. Upon seeing social media footage of the incident, Dr. Kimes contacted Ms. Boyd and flew her to Atlanta to have her smile restored.

"I feel it's my obligation to give back to the community," Dr. Kimes told WAGA-TV. "I am so proud of our young people, with them giving back and not being afraid to speak up."
