Nashville dentist arrested for throwing massive party, violating public health orders

A dentist was arrested for allegedly co-hosting a massive party in Nashville, Tenn., amid the pandemic, The Tennessean reports.

Jeffrey Mathews, DDS, was booked Aug. 11 on three counts of violating local emergency health orders in connection with the Aug. 1 party. He and another man each face misdemeanor charges after police say they threw a party that drew hundreds, violating health orders limiting gatherings to 25 people and requiring masks and social distancing.

Dr. Mathews was released from custody Aug. 12 on his own recognizance by a judicial commissioner. The dentist is due in court Sept. 21 for a hearing.
