Dentistry's financial recovery following months of widespread office closures amid the early pandemic has plateaued, according to the American Dental Association's latest poll.
ADA's poll conducted for the week of Aug. 24 revealed that 99 percent of dental offices were open and 74 percent were seeing patient volumes that matched levels before the pandemic. Both of these statistics rose only 1 percentage point from the poll conducted for the week of Aug. 10.
During the week of Aug. 24, poll responses also showed that staffing in dental practices reached 94 percent of levels it was at before the pandemic.
More than half of dentists surveyed reported struggles with anxiety, depression, finances, weight and sleep during the pandemic, and about one-third reported relationship problems or increased substance use.
