Maryland dentist receives prison sentence for viewing child pornography at practice

Former family dentist Adam Slatniske, DMD, received a one-year prison sentence and must register as a sex offender after pleading guilty to a child pornography charge, according to Carroll County Times.

In November 2019, Dr. Slatniske was charged with 10 counts related to possessing and distributing child pornography as well as viewing the images from his place of employment, Parkville (Md.) Family Dentistry, where he is no longer employed.

He entered a guilty plea June 15. As part of an agreement with Dr. Slatniske's legal team, Maryland agreed to abandon nine of the charges.

On Sept. 23, Dr. Slatniske was sentenced to five years' incarceration, with all but one year suspended. The time he has served on home detention, which amounts to nearly 11 months, counts toward the sentence, according to Carroll County Times.

"I would be surprised if he weren't released today just because of the time of service and the sentence," Dr. Slatniske's attorney told Carroll County Times Sept. 23.

He was also sentenced to five years of supervised probation, during which he cannot have contact with anyone younger than 18 except for supervised contact with relatives. Dr. Slatniske must also register as a Tier II sex offender, which can last 25 years.
