Dentist warns against DIY dentures after TikToker's viral video

A dentist is warning the public after a TikToker made DIY dentures out of InstaMorph beads in a viral video, according to a Jan. 11 report from Insider.

Tik Tok user Gypsy Lou (@gyspytrax) shared six videos showing how she uses InstaMorph beads to make replacement teeth, garnering more than a million views total, the report said. She touts the DIY hack as a cheaper alternative to more expensive dental treatment.

However, using InstaMorph beads as dentures can cause serious problems, including gum inflammation and recession, Dr. Vanessa Creaven, a dentist from Ireland, told Insider.

"Using something like microbeads is not hygienic. It will result in food, bacteria and plaque getting caught around it and around the teeth nearby," Dr. Creaven said.
