Texas dentist pleads not guilty to child pornography charges; trial date set

Lubbock, Texas-based dentist Jason White, DDS, pleaded not guilty in federal court Feb. 17 to the charges of receipt and distribution of child pornography, production of child pornography, and enticement of a minor, reports NBC affiliate KCBD.

Dr. White's arraignment took six minutes. He will remain in custody until his trial, which was set for April 5.

On Feb. 10, Dr. White was indicted by a federal grand jury on all three charges. A federal judge denied the dentist's request for release Jan. 25 after an eighth potential victim came forward. A detective said they've received many tips regarding more potential victims and are still gathering information, according to KCBD.

According to CBS affiliate KLBK-TV, a restraining order was filed Feb. 12 to prevent Dr. White from disposing of his house, apartment, 966-acre ranch and $35,000 before the trial. The indictment calls for the dentist to forfeit his property to the federal government if convicted.
