Sinkhole renders 2 Tennessee dental practices unsafe to occupy

The discovery of a large sinkhole prompted the temporary closure of two dental offices in Bristol, Tenn., local NBC affiliate WCYB reported April 9. The sinkhole was discovered in connection with water line problems.

Matt Bailey, Bristol's building codes administrator, deemed the offices of Jason Pittman, DDS, and Glenn Vance Jr., DDS, as unfit and unsafe to occupy while engineers investigated the area, telling WCYB that the dentists were notifying patients of the closure.

Dr. Pittman and Dr. Vance were allowed to enter their practices to obtain records and equipment if needed, Mr. Bailey said.

Mr. Bailey told Becker's no updates were available as of April 12, and that more information would likely become available by the end of the week.
