'Compete with corporate dentistry': 2 Kansas practices create sedation dentistry center

Two separate Lawrence, Kan.-based dental practices have merged and are constructing a new practice called the Kansas Center for Sedation Dentistry, reports the Lawrence Journal-World.

Brian Heck, DDS, of Heck Family Dentistry has purchased Enhance Dental Care from Patrick Moriarty, DDS. The staff from Enhance Dental Care, including Dr. Moriarty, will work at the new center.

The center will continue to serve as a general family dentistry practice, but is designed for sedation dentistry as well. In total, the two separate offices had about 10 chairs. The new facility has 14 chairs, with three designated for sedation dentistry.

"Being this size allows us to compete with corporate dentistry," Dr. Heck told the Journal-World. "We have the resources to have the best technology and the best procedures, but we still really can focus on providing care in the most personalized manner."

Dr. Heck said the dental center is set to open next week.
