Pennsylvania dentist surrenders license after state board deems behavior unprofessional

Wade Newman, DDS, former owner of Bellefonte (Pa.) Family Dentistry, voluntarily surrendered his license to the state's dentistry board in March after it ruled he acted unprofessionally by engaging in sexual misconduct with two patients, the Centre Daily Times reported May 5.

Dr. Newman may apply to have his dental license reinstated after five years, according to a state document cited by the news outlet.

The misconduct with the two patients occurred more than four years ago, according to the report.

In July 2018, Dr. Newman was found not guilty of all charges after being accused of raping one of the women. The woman settled a lawsuit against the former dentist in March 2020.

The attorneys for Dr. Newman and the woman who filed suit against him declined a request for comment from the Centre Daily Times.
