Texas man arrested for allegedly practicing dentistry from his house without a license

Police in Mission, Texas, arrested a man July 1 on suspicion of illegally practicing dentistry from his house, KVEO reported.

Carlos Raul Flores reportedly extracted a woman's wisdom tooth at his house in May, but left the roots of the wisdom tooth in the woman's gums, which caused her pain and numbness in the area. The woman visited another dentist, who informed her that the roots were still present. The dentist then called the Mission Police Department to report malpractice.

During its investigation, police learned that Mr. Flores did not have a license to practice dentistry in Texas; however, it is suspected that he previously practiced dentistry in Mexico.

Mr. Flores was charged with two counts of practicing dentistry without a license, a third-degree felony, and given a $10,000 bond.
