6 dentists making headlines

From an Oregon dentist who affiliated his practice with a DSO to a Georgia dentist who established a new dental journal, here are six dentists who made headlines between Sept. 7 and Sept. 13:

  1. Allen Sclaroff, DDS, a professor of clinical otolaryngology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, died Aug. 18.
  2. Edwin Michael Thomas, DDS, co-founder and former president of the American Academy of Dental Group Practice, died Aug. 29 at the age of 99.
  3. Robert Coleman Westcott, DDS, former president of New York state's dental association, died Sept. 2.
  4. Normund Auzins, DDS, owner of Columbia Oral Surgery and Implants, affiliated his practice with U.S. Oral Surgery Management, an Irving, Texas-based management services company.
  5. Roshan Parikh, DDS, Walmart's former head of dentistry, joined clear aligner company Candid as a clinical growth ambassador.
  6. Todd Schoenbaum, DDS, professor in the department of restorative sciences for the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, launched Dentistry Review, a international, open-access and peer-reviewed journal.
