6 dentists making headlines

A dentist who was sentenced to five years in prison for tax evasion and five other dentists who have made headlines since May 31:

1. Faraz Farahnik, DDS, was one of two dental professionals credited with saving a hospital June 3 after a man entered the building and stabbed two nurses and an emergency department physician.

2. Derald Geddes, DDS, was sentenced to five years in prison for federal income tax evasion of more than $1.8 million and obstructing the IRS' efforts to collect the money.

3. Ernesto Delgado Perez, DDS, is leading a new practice opened by Morrisville, N.C.-based Affordable Care in Sacramento, Calif. 

4. Charles Stamitoles, DDS, was arrested May 27 and charged with battery for allegedly inappropriately touching a female employee. He was arrested again June 2 and charged with two preliminary counts of battery.

5. Dave Preble, DDS, was promoted to chief strategy officer for the American Dental Association.

6. Michael Glick, DMD, was named the International Dentist of the Year by the Academy of Dentistry International.
