Here are six of the biggest deals of 2022 that occurred in the dental industry's DSO, supply chain and revenue cycle management space:
DSO
- Heartland Dental provided support for a merger of three Canadian dental companies to create the largest DSO in the country. This is Heartland Dental's first strategic partnership outside the U.S.
- Sonrava Health, a multispecialty health and wellness company, became the new parent company of Orange, Calif.-based Western Dental. The company also added DSO Brident Dental & Orthodontics to its network.
- Sonrava Health also completed its acquisition of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.-based DSO Mid-Atlantic Dental Partners.
- Private equity firm Thurston Group merged three Southeastern dental groups to form SGA Dental Partners, a dentist-owned and led DSO with 60 clinical locations in rural communities throughout Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Supply chain
- Henry Schein completed its acquisition of privately held Swiss dental distribution company Condor Dental Research Co., expanding its international presence.
Revenue cycle management
- Sun Life Financial, a global financial services firm, completed its acquisition of DentaQuest. DentaQuest is the second-largest dental benefits provider in the U.S. by membership and the largest provider of Medicaid dental benefits.
