Washington, D.C., dentist must pay $286K for tax fraud

A Washington, D.C., dentist was found guilty of failing to pay district taxes and will have to pay $286,000, district Attorney General Karl Racine announced June 4.

An investigation by the district's Office of Tax and Revenue and the Office of the Attorney General found that Daniel Cave, DMD, failed to pay district taxes for 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. He was charged with four counts of failure to make a return and pleaded guilty to one count. The remaining counts were dismissed during sentencing. Dr. Cave will pay $286,000 in unpaid taxes, penalties and interest in exchange for the guilty plea and the dismissal of the additional counts.
