Missouri Mission of Mercy Clinic provides $800,000 of free dental care to community: 4 takeaways

With the help of Delta Dental of Missouri and other sponsors, Joplin-based Mission of Mercy Clinic provided $800,000 worth of free dental care to nearly 1,200 people, according to The Joplin Globe.

Here are four takeaways:

1. More than 1,000 volunteers performed an estimated 900 cleanings, 800 fillings and 1,600 extractions.

2. The annual event provides dental care for the people who might not otherwise receive those services and oral health education to help improve care after the event.

3. Joplin-based Mission of Mercy Clinic has over 6,000 volunteers and has provided $5 million in free dental care to approximately 9,500 patients.

4. Mission of Mercy Clinics across the country have provided nearly $159 million in dental services to more than 243,000 patients.
