According to The Register, a new study suggests using virtual-reality headsets in the dentist's chair helps make patients more relaxed.

1. Research shows that virtual reality can make children calmer when local analgesia is administered.
2. Of the 79 patients who participated in the study, most of them found the virtual realty headsets a calming distraction during extractions and fillings.
3. Overall, participants using virtual reality headsets reported less pain when accounting for differences in age, gender, dental anxiety and the treatment type or duration.
