SmileDirectClub saw a 38.4 percent increase in revenue during the first quarter of 2023.
The teledentistry released its first quarter financial report May 9.
Six notes on the company's first quarter performance:
1. SmileDirectClub reported $112,835 in net revenue for the first quarter, compared to $142,512 during the first quarter of 2022.
2. The company's revenue was up 38.4 percent from the fourth quarter of 2022, while its gross profit was up 64.6 percent.
3. SmileDirectClub's first quarter net loss was $66 million, a $4 million improvement from the fourth quarter of 2022 and a $7 million improvement from the first quarter of last year.
4. The company's adjusted EBITDA was $26 million, a $21 million improvement from the fourth quarter of 2022, and an $8 million improvement compared to the same period last year.
5. SmileDirectClub had 59,645 unique clear aligner shipments during the first quarter, up from 41,462 shipments during the fourth quarter of 2022.
6. The average aligner gross sales price was $1,949, compared to $1,960 during the fourth quarter of 2022.
