North Carolina dentist accused of practicing with suspended license

A dentist in Morehead City, N.C., has been accused of practicing dentistry while having a suspended license, according to a May 2 report by Carteret County News-Times.

Jiaming Geng, DDS, has received two suspensions from the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners in the past 28 months due to multiple infection control violations.

Investigators from the board conducted an unannounced inspection at Dr. Geng's workplace April 1. During the inspection, investigators found multiple violations.

Dr. Geng's license was previously suspended in December 2021 for similar violations. The board and Dr. Geng entered a consent order conditionally restraining her license through July 2027, according to an April 5 order from the board.

Following the inspection, the board reached an agreement for Dr. Geng to immediately cease practicing in North Carolina and surrender her license.

"There is an individual that got her license suspended for infection control and sterilization issues, and to the best of our knowledge, we believe she is still practicing," Betty Sines, the board's assistant director of investigations and administration, told the news outlet.
