Dentist migration to California up 1.3%: 6 notes

California had a positive net migration of new dentists from 2019 to 2022, with a net migration rate of 1.3%, according to the American Dental Association.

The ADA classified new dentists as dentists who had less than 10 years of experience in 2019 and who were still active in 2022.

Here are five additional notes:

1. There were 6,149 new dentists in California in 2019, and 5,717 (93%) remained in the state in 2022.

2. California had 6,230 new dentists in 2022, for a net migration of 81 new dentists. 

3. There were 513 new dentists who entered California between 2019 and 2022 and 432 who left. 

4. The top inbound state from which new dentists entered California was Texas, bringing in 94 new dentists. 

5. Texas was also the top outbound state for new California dentists, drawing 72 new dentists away.
