Woman pleads guilty to embezzling $100K from Michigan dental office

A former employee of Smile Zone Dental in Fort Gratiot Township, Mich., pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $100,000 from the practice, the Port Huron Times Herald reported April 11.

Jennifer Malone was arrested in October after an auditor for the practice found Ms. Malone had used office funds for private purchases and took several cash payments.

As part of the plea deal, Ms. Malone pleaded guilty to a reduced charge that carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years. However, she could face up to 15 years in prison if she is unable to repay the money by her sentencing date, which is June 10.
