Gov. DeSantis signed Senate Bill 892: Dental Insurance Claims on May 17, according to a May 19 news release.
Here are the updates to the insurance process from SB 892:
- Prohibits contracts between insurers and dentists from having restrictions on certain payment methods.
- Prohibits insurers from charging a fee to send payment through Automated Clearing House transfer unless the dentist consents to the fee.
- Prohibits insurers from denying claims for procedures included in a prior authorization.
- Prohibits a contract between a prepaid limited health services organization and a dentist that contains certain restrictions on payment methods and other areas.
The bill is effective Jan. 1, 2025.
