The system uses AI-driven 3D imaging to complete restorative dentistry tasks such as crown placements, according to a July 30 news release.
The robot can complete crown placements in 15 minutes, a procedure that typically requires two office visits of at least one hour.
Perceptive’s technology records an accuracy rate of more than 90% for detecting caries, leading to more accurate and precise diagnoses, according to German Gallucci, DMD, PhD, chairman of restorative dentistry at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
The company has raised $30 million in funding to date, the release said.
