Dr. Theresa Gonzales earns ADA’s distinguished service award

Theresa Gonzales, DMD, received the 2024 American Dental Association Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Gonzales became a dentist and also served in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of colonel. She now serves as chair of the department of advanced specialty sciences and director of the Ryan White Dental Clinic at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine in Charleston, according to a July 29 news release. 

With her support, the dental school created the chronic orofacial pain management service. 

The distinguished award is one of the highest honors presented by the ADA to its members, the release said.
