6 dental industry updates in Texas

Here are six dental industry updates that have taken place in Texas in July:

1. West Temple (Texas) Orthodontics reopened in a new office after its previous facility was damaged by a tornado. 

2. A Texas dental clinic operator was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for defrauding the state’s Medicaid program. 

3. The increased costs of dental supplies, staffing salaries and lease costs are causing financial strains for Texas dental practices dedicated to providing care to Medicaid patients.

4. South Texas College in McAllen is developing an associate of applied science in dental hygiene program, funded by a $1 million grant.

5. Several dental offices closed and were without power after Hurricane Beryl made landfall along the Texas coast July 8. 

6. A Texas man was accused of practicing unlicensed dentistry.
