Percentage of solo dentists in every state

Nearly half of all dentists in California work in practices with one location and one dentist, the highest percentage of any state, according to data from the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute.

Minnesota has the lowest percentage, at 19%.

Across the U.S., 35% of dentists work in a single-location, solo-dentist practice.

The ADA’s report reflects 2023 information and includes analysis of more than 193,000 practicing dentists.
