Wausau, Wis.-based Northcentral Technical College is planning to launch the first dental therapy program in Wisconsin, according to a March 25 report from NBC affiliate WJFW.
Future students of the program will work directly out of NTC’s Community Dental Clinic, performing procedures including fillings and simple tooth extractions.
Before being accepted to the dental therapy program, students must have a dental hygiene degree from an accredited program.
The program is expected to start in 2026 and is awaiting accreditation from the Commission on Dental Accreditation, the report said.
At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
