An Arizona dental practice is maintaining its operations after a gas explosion at a nearby business damaged its office nearly four years ago, Ahwatukee Foothills News reported April 19.

A gas leak at a printing shop in Chandler, Ariz., led to an explosion on Aug. 26, 2021. The explosion injured four people and damaged several nearby businesses, including Smiles of Chandler.

The practice closed temporarily, using local offices to continue treating patients. The practice’s staff spent several months working without a permanent office. Staff also attended group therapy sessions to help recover from the explosion.

James Heaton, DDS, eventually reopened the practice in a larger space to make room for training dentists on no-prep veneers.
