The Iowa House of Representatives has passed a bill that permits dental assistants in the state to work without registering, according to an April 23 report from ABC 9.
In order to address the shortage of dental assistants in the state, the bill creates a different tier of dental assistants.
Kelsey Fisk, president of the Iowa Dental Assistant Association, hopes that the new unregistered dental assistants will only be used as a last option.
The bill moves to the state Senate for consideration.
