Ohio dental practice manager sentenced for failing to pay nearly $800K in taxes

A dental practice manager in Pataskala, Ohio, was sentenced to six months in prison for filing false tax returns and not paying more than $760,000 in taxes, according to April 21 court documents obtained by Becker’s 

Eric Moesle, the office manager at Elemental Dental, was responsible for payroll, bookkeeping and tax return preparation. From 2014 through 2020, the practice withheld taxes from employees’ wages but did not pay those taxes to the IRS. 

In addition, Mr. Moesle claimed that he was unaware that the practice had not paid employment taxes or filed tax forms. He pleaded guilty in August 2024.

Following the six months in prison, Mr. Moesle will have a three-year term of supervised release. 

Mr. Moesle was ordered to pay $773,062 in restitution to the IRS, the documents said.
