The National Association of Dental Plans expressed its commitment to expanding access to dental care by urging Congress to allow the public to purchase dental insurance, protecting adult Medicaid dental coverage and continuing tax credits.
The organization showed its support for the Increasing Access to Dental Insurance Act, which would allow individuals to purchase standalone dental plans through Healthcare.gov without also buying medical coverage, according to an April 29 news release.
H.R.1397 and S. 1164 would expand dental coverage to employees at small businesses that only provide medical insurance, the nearly 20 million Americans over 65 who do not have dental coverage, the nearly 10 million veterans who lack dental coverage and adult Medicaid beneficiaries in states that do not provide adult dental coverage.
In addition, the NADP pushed to preserve the adult dental coverage Medicaid benefit and the continuation of advanced premium tax credits to make health and dental insurance more affordable, the release said.
