Oral surgeon pay jumps 52% since 2019

The average annual salary for oral and maxillofacial and surgeons has increased from $237,570 in 2019 up to $360,240 in 2024.

Oral surgeon compensation jumped a total of $122,670, or 51.6%, from 2019 to 2024.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics released updated compensation data April 2 to reflect 2024 information, the latest available. 

Here is how the average annual wage and average hourly wage have changed for oral and maxillofacial surgeons from 2019 to 2024, along with the state where oral surgeons earned the most each year.

Mean hourly wage: $114.21

2020

Mean annual wage: $234,990, year-over-year decrease of $2,580

Mean hourly wage: $112.98

2021
