Utah dentist admits to downloading child pornography: 5 things to know

Daniel Alston, DDS, a South Ogden, Utah, dentist, was charged with downloading child pornography, according to Desert News.

Here are five things to know:

1. The District Court charged Dr. Alston with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

2. Dr. Alston told investigators “curiosity and the forbidden nature of the material,” drove him to download the images, according to the report.

3. Investigators requested bail be set at $250,000; however, the judge set it at $100,000. Dr. Alston’s first court appearance is set for Feb. 28.

4. State records suggest Dr. Alston may have pornographic images at his dental office.

5. Dr. Alston had no record of disciplinary actions.
